Nervous about Having Treatment? How We Can Help Soothe Your Fears
Are you nervous about having dental treatment? Do you feel anxious whenever a trip to the dentist is approaching? We understand that even the thought of sitting in that chair can make some people apprehensive, but we can assure you that you’re in safe hands. We have an experienced team, which will do everything possible to help you to feel more relaxed.
How we can help nervous patients
It is estimated that around 10% of patients suffer from extreme anxiety and up to 90 percent experience mild anxiety. If you’re nervous about having dental treatment, we are here to help. We have a very friendly and compassionate team made up of members of staff who have expertise in caring for nervous patients. We are always willing to meet patients before they have treatment, show them around and answer any questions, and we make every effort to explain exactly what is going to happen so that our patients don’t feel like they’re taking a step into the unknown. Our practice is designed to be a tranquil space where you can enjoy some peace and quiet and feel relaxed and calm.
We offer sedation dentistry for anxious patients and those who suffer from dental phobia. Sedation is a technique that is used widely in medicine and dentistry. It helps to allay fears and make patients feel more comfortable when they undergo a dental procedure. When you’re sedated, you don’t lose consciousness and it’s not the same as going under general anaesthetic. Although you’ll be awake, you won’t feel any pain and you may not remember much when you come around after the effects of the sedative wear off. If you are feeling very anxious about having treatment, the thought of being sedated can be reassuring. If you’d like to know more, our dental team will be happy to give you some more information and answer questions.
If you’re a nervous patient and you’re looking for a caring dentist who understands you and will be there to reassure you every step of the way, call us today and book a consultation.
